Captiva Island Destination Wedding

Not only was this destination wedding absolutely stunning, (who wouldn’t love spending the day surrounded by love on the white sand beaches of Captiva Island?!), but it happens to be extra special because it’s my very own brother and his beautiful wife.

That and, there are dogs involved. Pups on the beach, you say?! Brother or no brother, that’s a 100% yes from us.

We hope that scrolling through this magical day helps to brighten up some of this winter gloom and warm even the coldest of January days.

Lindsay: “We met at Praxair in 2014, when I was assigned to train Bobby in his new job. We sat next to each other and worked together on the afternoon shift. At the time we were just friends and had no romantic feelings for one another. Neither of us were looking for a relationship. When I was promoted to day shift and we lost touch completely for over 2 years. Bobby then also came to the day shift and we were on the same team, once again sitting close to each other. Around the same time we began going out to happy hours with our coworkers. We would find that at the end of the night it was usually just the two of us left talking. We had so much in common and just loved each others company. This happened over and over again until he asked me out on our first date.“

Lindsay: “Our first date was at Hutch’s. I was so nervous but excited at the same time. Definitely a butterflies moment. I remember parking in the lot across the street and walking into the restaurant together, not knowing what to expect. We sat down to dinner, ordered a bottle of wine and began talking for what would be the first of many dinners together. It was amazing how much we had in common once we started to learn the basics about each other. We had a great dinner and I left feeling all those feelings you should after a really good date. Happy, nervous, excited, and unsure in a good way.”

Lindsay: “Bobby proposed on November 8, 2017 on the Crown Princess cruise ship. It was our very first vacation alone together. We flew to Florida that morning on the 5am flight. We spent the day enjoying the Ft. Lauderdale boardwalk and beach. Our cruise left the dock around 4pm. We had a great afternoon and evening exploring the ship and anticipating all that was going to happen in the next week. Bobby kept mentioning that he wanted to look at the stars after dinner on the back of the boat. I was not feeling well but he insisted that we go, so I went along with it. We got to the back of the boat and he got down on one knee and proposed. It was just the two of us. I, of course, said yes right away! I could not believe what just happened and could not have been more sure of anything in my life. Luckily there was no one around at the time so we sat down on a bench nearby and took a few minutes to take it all in. The sweetest part is that he remembered me saying a while back how much I always loved the feeling I get when I am on the back of a ship looking out in to the water, now it is even more special!!“

Lindsay: “In our free time, we love spending time with family and friends. We travel to Florida and Canada to visit with my family and Utica to visit with Bobby’s. We also spend a lot of time with our dogs, Chloe and Bella. We take them on walks, car rides, and other special trips. A lot of our time is spent fostering rescue dogs as well. One of our favorite things to do is sit at the corner of a good local bar/restaurant and have a nice dinner out together, we always have a great time just talking. In the winter we like to go to Ellicottville to go skiing and in the summer we like to sit out on our back deck and enjoy the nice weather and a BBQ.“

Lindsay: “We want to spend the rest of our lives together because we know that we both share the same loving personality, the same goals, dreams, and affinity for muppets (our cute nickname for dogs). We trust each other, and know we will be able to rely on each other for years to come. Easily said, we both value family, health, and love for each other over all else. We both feel lucky and blessed that we were able to find someone that we could really not imagine life without.“
