jen + jeff // knox farm state park
Filed in weddings shot by Ayres Photography on atKnox Farm State Park is quickly becoming a favorite wedding venue of mine. The scenery is some of the most beautiful that Western New York has to offer. There’s something kind of magical about it, too…almost as if you can feel the history of the place while you stroll the grounds. The fact that the entire park used to be someone’s backyard just boggles my mind! I can’t get enough of the rolling fields, gorgeous old growth trees, and beautiful sunsets. It’s the perfect location for a laid-back, good vibes only wedding, and Jen and Jeff’s wedding was exactly that.
Jen and Jeff are both the best kind of people. They are kind, soft spoken, warm, gentle souls who make everyone feel equally important and loved. They aren’t local to Buffalo, so we weren’t able to get to know them as well as we would have liked to before the wedding, but when we walked in on their wedding day, it was immediately clear that none of that mattered at all. They welcomed us in as friends, and made us feel like we truly belonged there. From the first frame we shot until the very last frame, we felt the magic of this day and these wonderful people, and I’m so happy to finally be sharing it all. :)
Jeff: “My favorite part of the day was reading my vows. I was really nervous that I was going to screw something up and was so relieved when I didn’t!“
Jen: “The ceremony was my favorite part of the wedding day. It was under this unreal old oak tree at the Knox. Jeff’s Grandpa officiated, and we wrote our own vows. It captured the essence of our relationship perfectly.”
Jeff: “After the ceremony, we led everyone into the house. We didn’t plan on doing a receiving line, but we stopped to talk to some of our friends and a line formed behind them. I’m really happy we got to say hello to everyone.“
Jen: “Cocktail hour was amazing! Getting to see all of the people who had traveled from near and far to be there at the wedding was magical.“
Jen: “Playing Kan-Jam in my wedding dress was a highlight.“
Jen: “I loved listening to the toasts at dinner. My dad, sister, and brother-in-law had me in tears I was laughing so hard!“
Jen: “We snuck away for a few photos just before sunset. Away from the party, just the two of us, I think that’s when it began to sink in. We were married!!“
Jen + Jeff: “At the end of the night after most of the guests had departed for the after party, we were left alone at the house with just a few of our stragglers. It was like the sudden calm that comes at the end of a big house party. We just remember thinking, ‘we pulled it off!’ And being so, so, happy.“
A little bit of advice from the happy newlyweds: “Don’t sweat the details! When the day actually arrives, you’ll be so overcome by having all of the people you love most in one place celebrating this monumental thing you’ve just done that the details really don’t matter. It’s magical. This is your day, so make sure you enjoy it. Remember that everyone is here to celebrate you!“
